The Beast of Bodmin is the urban legend of a phantom black cat the size of a puma stalking the Bodmin Moor of Cornwall.

Since 1978, more than 60 reports have baffled local police about sightings of a large cat-like creature with sharp, prominent teeth and white-yellow eyes. Shortly after the report was published, a boy found a mysterious leopard skull lying on the banks of the River Fowey.

In British folklore, British big cats refers to the subject of reported sightings of non-native, typically large felids feral in the United Kingdom. Many of these creatures have been described as "panthers", "pumas" or "black cats". These are generally believed to have been escaped or released exotic pets that had been held illegally.
