Babaroga (which roughly means « old lady with horns ») is a creature known among Southern Slavs that should not be confused with Baba Yaga. Considered a boogeymen in Serbia, she is represented as very ugly, hunchbacked old woman with horn on head, who live in dark caves. According to folktales, Babaroga likes to steal naughty children and put them in a bag to bring them to her lair to devour them. She can also reach out and snatch the child through cracks in the ceiling. Like all bogeymen, Babaroga is mainly used as a tool to scare children into good behavior.

Babaroga (signifiant « vieille dame cornue ») est un croque-mitaine serbe prenant la forme d’une vieille femme laide et bossue avec une corne sur la tête. Elle ère la nuit à la recherche d’enfants mal élevés pour les enlever. Similaire à Baba Yaga, cette créature attrape ses victimes, les emprisonnant dans son sac, et les traînes dans sa grotte pour les dévorer. Elle est aussi capable de kidnapper les enfants à travers les fissures du plafond. Comme tout les croque-mitaines, Babaroga est principalement utilisé comme un outil pour effrayer les enfants pas sages.
