Beda or bijeda is a demon from Southern Slavic folklore that is far descent from ghosts and close to Chuma. The word “beda” can be translated as “misery” which obviously refers to an evil creature that brings hardships to humanity. She wanders across the world, attacks people and torture them. There are sayings that ''Beda found them'' or ''Beda follows them from cradle to grave''. Beda is bony and slimy creature that breeds very quickly, likes to steal things from people and to dig them deep into the ground.

Beda ou bijeda est un démon du folklore slave méridional proche des fantômes et de Chuma. Le mot « beda » peut se traduire par « misère ». Il désigne alors une créature maléfique qui apporte des de grands malheurs à l’humanité. Ce monstre erre à travers le monde, attaquant les gens sur son passage pour les torturer. On dit que 'Beda les a trouvés' ou 'Beda les suit du berceau à la tombe'. Beda est une créature osseuse et visqueuse qui se reproduit très rapidement, qui aime aussi voler des choses aux gens pour les enterrer profondément dans le sol.
